Introduction
Qinfinite Web Automation is a browser-based Robotic Process Automation (RPA) module that enables you to record, manage, execute, and monitor automated browser interactions across any web application.
What is Web Automation?
Web Automation brings record-and-replay capabilities to the Qinfinite platform. Instead of writing code or configuring complex automation flows, you interact with a web application naturally — clicking, typing, navigating — while the system captures every action as a replayable script.
These scripts are then executed in the cloud on managed Chromium browsers, with full support for conditional logic, input variables, multi-tab navigation, and real-time monitoring with live screenshots and video capture.
Web Automation consists of two components:
- Qinfinite Web Recorder — A browser extension that captures your interactions on any website and transfers the recorded script to the platform.
- Web Automation Module — The platform UI where you manage, edit, execute, and monitor your automation scripts.
Key Features
- No-Code Recording — Record browser actions by interacting with web pages naturally. No scripting required.
- Browser Extension — Lightweight Chromium extension that captures clicks, inputs, navigation, and form interactions.
- Script Management — Organize scripts with categories, tags, and status tracking (Active, Draft, Inactive).
- Action Editor — Edit recorded actions: reorder steps, modify selectors, add conditional logic, set variables.
- Conditional Logic — Add IF, IF-NOT, and MULTI-IF blocks with AND/OR operators for dynamic execution paths.
- Input Variables — Define variables that are prompted at execution time, enabling reusable scripts across environments.
- Capture Variables — Extract text from pages during execution with processing rules (substring, trim, regex).
- Cloud Execution — Scripts run on managed Chromium browsers in the Qinfinite cloud.
- Live Monitoring — Watch execution in real-time with live screenshot streaming and step-by-step status.
- Video & Screenshots — Automatic video recording of every execution, plus a screenshot of each step that fails.
- Interactive Execution — Handle OTP prompts, authentication numbers, and approval flows during script runs.
- Verification Actions — Assert page data, list ordering, media loading, layout, and link health directly inside a script. Failed assertions are reported without halting the run.
- Web Scraping Actions — Extract repeated rows, structured metadata, network responses, and multi-page crawls into the execution output.
- Iframe Support — Record and execute actions inside nested iframes.
- Shadow DOM Support — Interact with modern web components that use Shadow DOM.
- Compatibility Analysis — Built-in analyser checks your recording for potential execution issues before you run.
How Web Automation Works
Use Cases
| Use Case | Description |
|---|---|
| Regression Testing | Record critical user flows and replay them after each deployment to catch regressions. |
| Smoke Testing | Quick checks that core functionality works across environments. |
| Data Entry | Automate repetitive form-filling tasks across web applications. |
| Process Validation | Verify multi-step business processes execute correctly end-to-end. |
| Authentication Flows | Test login sequences with OTP and multi-factor authentication support. |
| Cross-Environment Testing | Use input variables to run the same script against staging, QA, and production. |
Supported Actions
| Action | Description |
|---|---|
launch | Navigate to a URL |
click | Click on an element |
input (fill / type / change) | Enter text into an input field |
keypress | Press a keyboard key or combination |
keysequence | Type a value character-by-character |
select / selectdropdown | Choose an option from a dropdown |
checkbox | Toggle a checkbox |
radio | Select a radio button |
datepicker | Select a date from a date picker |
wait | Wait for a duration or a specific page condition |
hover | Hover over an element |
scroll | Scroll an element into view |
close | Close the current browser tab |
gettext | Capture text from an element into a variable |
extracttable | Extract table data (including paginated tables) into a variable |
totp | Generate and fill a time-based one-time password |
setotp | Pause execution for a manually-entered OTP |
getauthnumber | Display an authentication number and wait for approval |
conditionalcheck | Start a conditional block (IF/IF-NOT/MULTI-IF) |
endcondition | End a conditional block |
For what each action needs and a worked example, see Action Reference.
Verification Actions
| Action | Description |
|---|---|
verifydata | Assert extracted field values against a JavaScript boolean expression |
verifyorder | Verify a list of elements is sorted ascending or descending |
verifymedia | Verify images and videos on the page loaded without breaking |
verifylayout | Detect overlapping or overflowing elements in a page region |
verifylinks | Crawl links in a region and check their HTTP status |
sortandverify | Apply a UI sort control, then verify the resulting order |
Web Scraping Actions
| Action | Description |
|---|---|
extractpagedata | Extract repeated rows from a list or table into a JSON array |
extractstructureddata | Extract JSON-LD / schema.org structured metadata |
capturenetwork | Capture the response body of a matching network request |
crawl | Follow links matching a pattern and extract fields from each page |
sparoute | Navigate to a client-side route in a single-page application |
randomselect | Pick a random element matching a selector |
