Claude Connection

The Claude connection type enables automations to call Anthropic's Claude API for language generation, reasoning, document analysis, and agentic tasks. It supports the full Claude 4 model family — Opus 4, Sonnet 4, and Haiku 4 — across both standard and extended-thinking modes.

After it is saved, workflow builders select Claude - Contract Review in a node instead of re-entering credentials every time.

Mandatory Fields

FieldWhat It MeansExample
apiKeyThe secret key used to authenticate every request to the Anthropic API. Encrypted at rest.sk-ant-api03-abc123...
Keep your API key secret

The key is shown only once when you create it. Store it in a password manager or directly in Qinfinite — never paste it into code or chat.

Advanced Fields

FieldWhat It MeansExample
defaultModelThe Claude model to use when a workflow step does not specify one.claude-sonnet-4-6
maxTokensDefault maximum number of tokens the model may generate per response. Can be overridden per step.4096
baseUrlOverride the Anthropic API base URL. Use this for a corporate proxy or private deployment. Defaults to https://api.anthropic.com.https://proxy.example.com/anthropic
Supported models (as of April 2026)
Model IDDescription
claude-opus-4-6Highest capability — complex reasoning, long documents, agentic tasks
claude-sonnet-4-6Balanced speed and intelligence — recommended for most production workflows
claude-haiku-4-5-20251001Fastest and most cost-efficient — best for high-volume, latency-sensitive steps

Rate limits (requests per minute and tokens per minute) vary by usage tier. See Anthropic's rate limit documentation for details.

Setup Instructions

  1. Sign in to console.anthropic.com. Create an account if you do not have one.

  2. Open the API Keys page. In the left sidebar, click API Keys, then click Create Key. Give the key a descriptive name such as Qinfinite Automation.

  3. Copy the key immediately. Anthropic shows the full key only once. Paste it into Qinfinite's API Key field before closing the dialog.

  4. Set up billing. Navigate to Organization → Billing and add a payment method. Without an active payment method or credit balance, the API returns a 529 or 402 error.

  5. (Optional) Select a default model. In the Advanced Fields, set defaultModel to the model ID your workflows should use when none is specified. Start with claude-sonnet-4-6 unless you need maximum capability (Opus) or maximum throughput (Haiku).

Troubleshooting

SymptomLikely CauseFix
401 authentication_errorThe API key is wrong, revoked, or was copied with extra whitespaceRegenerate a fresh key at console.anthropic.com and update the connection
429 rate_limit_errorToo many requests or too many tokens per minute for your tierAdd retry logic with exponential back-off; request a higher rate limit tier if needed
529 overloaded_errorAnthropic's API is under high loadImplement retry with back-off; consider switching to a faster model like Haiku during peak periods
404 model not foundThe defaultModel value is incorrect or the model is not available on your accountVerify the exact model ID from the table above; check your tier for model access
