Setup Instructions

  1. Identify your SMTP server. For corporate environments, check with your IT team. For cloud providers:

    • Gmail: smtp.gmail.com, port 587 (STARTTLS) or 465 (SSL). Requires an App Password if 2FA is enabled.
    • Microsoft 365: smtp.office365.com, port 587 (STARTTLS). Requires SMTP AUTH to be enabled for the mailbox.
    • Amazon SES: Use the regional SES SMTP endpoint. Requires SES SMTP credentials (not IAM credentials).
  2. Obtain credentials. Use a service account or application-specific password rather than a personal account password.

  3. Create the connection in the Global Configurator with the fields listed above.

  4. Test the connection to verify that the platform can reach the SMTP server and authenticate successfully.

Troubleshooting

SymptomLikely Cause
Connection timeoutFirewall blocking the port, or incorrect host/port
Authentication failedWrong credentials, or SMTP AUTH not enabled on the mailbox
